Ness Digital Engineering

Ness Digital Engineering is owned by The Rohatyn Group, an emerging markets-focused asset manager that acquired the firm in 2022. Prior to that, it was owned by Lotte Group and, before that, by private equity firms including Warburg Pincus.

Ness sources engagements primarily through The Rohatyn Group's portfolio company network and direct relationships with independent software vendors. Because it operates as an internal engineering asset for Rohatyn, a significant portion of its work originates from captive portfolio company mandates before expanding to external enterprise clients.

Ness operates engineering delivery centers in Poland (Wrocław), Romania (Timișoara, Cluj-Napoca), India (Bangalore), and Colombia. Its commercial headquarters is in Teaneck, New Jersey. This distributed footprint allows it to offer nearshore capacity to US and European clients alongside offshore teams.

Ness structures engagements as dedicated product engineering labs that assume end-to-end product ownership, not as staff augmentation. Teams are embedded directly into client organizations and carry product risk alongside the client. The firm targets equity-aligned outcomes, functioning more like a distributed CTO office than a conventional vendor.

Ness targets growth-stage and mature independent software vendors, as well as private equity-backed portfolio companies undergoing digital transformation. The firm is not a venture investor itself but operates as a debt-free services entity that accelerates product roadmaps and technical modernization for companies already on a scaling trajectory.
