Pensjonsordningen for Apotekvirksomhet was created in 1953 as a collective pension arrangement covering all employees in Norwegian pharmacies. The scheme delivers defined-benefit pensions and dependant benefits. Administration rests with Statens pensjonskasse under oversight from the Norwegian Ministry of Labour and Social Inclusion. The portfolio allocates across real estate and public equities. Confirmed holdings include minority positions in DEAS Eiendomsfond Norge I, Pareto Eiendomsfellesskap, and Union Core Real Estate Fund, all focused on Norwegian commercial and mixed-use properties. Public equity positions reported in 2021 included AutoStore Holdings, Carlsberg, Dometic Group, Investor AB, Novo Nordisk, Sampo, Sandvik, SKF, and Subsea 7. In 2024 the scheme became anchor investor in the Intech Global Defensive Equity Fund launched on the Carne Group platform. Assets total $1.5 billion. The board is appointed by the Ministry. Kari Lund serves as daily manager. Ernst & Young acts as auditor. Additional service providers include Intech Investment Management and three Norwegian real estate managers. The scheme operates under a statutory mandate that fixes both contribution rules and benefit structure, limiting discretion compared with discretionary pension funds.
