Premaat was established in 1944 to provide life insurance, retirement savings, and disability income protection to architects in Spain. It merged with Hermandad Nacional de Arquitectos (HNA) in 2021, forming a single mutual entity that continues to focus on the architectural profession. The firm holds direct ownership of multiple Madrid office buildings including Torre Mízar valued at €36 million and Torre Spínola valued at €52 million. Additional holdings include the LaLiga Headquarters Building, the Murano Building, Cemex Headquarters, and the Guadalajara Logistics Platform acquired in 2019. It also maintains a stake in the Viario A-31 road concession and equity positions in listed vehicles such as Cox and Ezentis. Assets total $1.27 billion. The firm sponsors industry events including the European BIM Summit and the RCR Arquitectes Open Program. It operates Fundación hna, which funds health research in ALS, Alzheimer's, and cancer as well as architecture scholarships. Premaat integrates ESG criteria into its process and excludes companies involved in child or forced labor. Its mutual ownership structure and long-term investment horizon of at least ten years distinguish its mandate from typical asset managers.
