This makes it more akin to a venture platform or startup studio than a conventional VC fund.

Pycap has not publicly disclosed a formal co-investment program. Its model emphasizes direct investments sourced through its accelerator and educational networks rather than participating as a limited partner or co-investor in external GP-led rounds.

The firm’s website indicates involvement from early stage, including seed and startup phases, through growth and management buyouts. This breadth reflects the dual structure of an accelerator that nurtures new ventures and a direct investment arm that can support later-stage scaling.

Pycap does not publish a list of excluded sectors. Its stated focus covers fintech, healthcare, veterinary, cleantech, agriculture, and marketing technology, suggesting deeper resource and capability constraints may limit activity in capital-intensive sectors such as hard tech, infrastructure, or biotech outside of veterinary applications.

Pycap is registered by the Canadian federal government as a Designated Entity for the Startup Visa program, which allows it to support immigrant entrepreneurs in obtaining permanent residency while they build their companies in Canada. The Department of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship has paused new applications for the program, pending future updates.
