The firm states it invests at Series A to B with ticket sizes up to €5 million. This places it in the early-to-growth stage bracket, a window where companies have initial product-market fit but require capital to scale across European or global markets.

Pymwymic was founded in 1994 by Frank van Beuningen alongside Jan Willem Nieuwenhuys, Corinne Heijn, Lisette Schuitemaker, Jan Oosterwijk, and Eckart Wintzen — entrepreneurs and business figures from companies such as The Body Shop, Origin, and Media Visie. The original capital came from their pooled personal funds, not a single family’s wealth.

In 2017, Pymwymic transitioned into an impact venture capital investor with its cooperative as cornerstone investor to formalize the model that had grown organically since the cooperative’s formation. The restructuring separated the investment management activity from the membership community while retaining foundation ownership, a move intended to scale deal capacity without weakening mission integrity.
