Qorvo owns and operates its own fabrication facilities in North Carolina, Oregon, and Texas — a vertically integrated model that contrasts with the fabless semiconductor approach. This allows Qorvo to control the full production cycle, particularly important for gallium nitride (GaN) technologies used in defense applications where supply chain security and ITAR compliance are mandatory.

Qorvo supplies gallium nitride monolithic microwave integrated circuits to the US Department of Defense and prime contractors for phased-array radar, electronic warfare, and satellite communications. The firm also participates in the State Department's Trusted Foundry program, which accredits domestic semiconductor suppliers for classified defense work.

Qorvo operates across both markets: its defense and aerospace segment serves government contractors and agencies with secure, ITAR-compliant chips, while its commercial segment supplies RF front-end modules for smartphones, 5G base stations, and automotive connectivity platforms to companies including Apple and Samsung.

Gallium nitride is a core differentiator for Qorvo. The firm invested early in GaN-on-silicon carbide fabrication processes that deliver higher power efficiency and frequency performance for defense radar, satellite communications, and 5G infrastructure. Qorvo's GaN products are manufactured domestically at its secure, ITAR-registered facilities.

Qorvo Biotechnologies, a wholly owned subsidiary, applies the company's bulk acoustic wave sensor technology to diagnostic testing. The unit received FDA Emergency Use Authorization in 2021 for a COVID-19 antigen test platform using its Omnimo sensor technology, representing a non-traditional diversification from its core RF chip business.
