Riley Children’s Foundation was founded in 1921 to raise funds for Riley Children’s Health. Courtney Roberts serves as president and chief executive officer. The foundation’s endowment arm manages investments that generate grants for pediatric programs at Indiana University Health and the IU School of Medicine. The foundation allocates across public equities, private equity buyout funds, venture capital, distressed debt, and hedge funds. It also holds direct real estate including the James Whitcomb Riley Museum Home and the Billie Lou Wood Visitor’s Center in Indianapolis. Camp Riley at Bradford Woods, a 2,500-acre facility in Martinsville, Indiana, operates through a joint venture with Indiana University. Geographic exposure centers on the United States with additional holdings in global markets. The organization maintains an alternative investment portfolio valued within its disclosed $402 million total assets. It employs service providers including Goelzer Investment Management as advisor and Ballard Spahr as legal counsel. In March 2025 the foundation launched the Every Child Deserves Riley campaign targeting $300 million for mental health and research programs. The foundation operates through a distinct governance structure that separates its fundraising activities from the Riley Children’s Endowment investment vehicle. Board leadership includes J. Murray Clark as chair, with additional ties to Centerfield Capital Partners through board member Faraz Abbasi.
