Safecor Health repackages bulk oral solid and liquid medications into unit-dose, barcoded packages and bar-coded oral syringes. Its primary customers are hospital pharmacies and health systems across the United States that use bar-code medication administration (BCMA) to scan medications at the bedside. The firm also serves federal health systems, including the Department of Defense and the Veterans Health Administration.

Safecor sits between wholesale drug distributors and the hospital pharmacy. It purchases medications in bulk, repackages them into single-unit packages under FDA registration and cGMP compliance, and ships the finished labeled units to hospital pharmacies. The service eliminates the need for hospitals to perform in-house unit-dose packaging and bar-coding, which would require their own validated manufacturing line and regulatory registrations.

Safecor is registered with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration as a drug repackager and is subject to current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) regulations under 21 CFR Parts 210 and 211. The firm holds a Drug Enforcement Administration registration for handling controlled substances and maintains pharmacy-board licensure in every state into which it ships finished doses. Its labels are designed to meet the FDA bar code label requirements codified at 21 CFR Part 201.25.

Safecor Health was formerly a portfolio company of Excellere Partners, a Denver-based private equity firm that invested in 2012 to scale automation and expand the Columbus operational footprint. Ownership later passed through transactions involving Prestige Consumer Healthcare and subsequent financial sponsors, though the firm has consistently operated under the Safecor Health trade name.

Safecor integrates inline vision-inspection systems that automatically reject packages with unreadable, missing, or misprinted bar codes before shipping. The firm also maintains validated label formats interoperable with major electronic health record software, including Epic and Cerner systems. A hospital attempting in-house bar-coding would need to replicate the cGMP validation, inspection machinery, and a 50-state pharmacy-licensing footprint to achieve equivalent reach.
