Sentiero Ventures

Sentiero uses an investor advisory board of more than 20 former founders, operators, and angel investors to source and evaluate deals. This group brings experience from over 25 industries, and members actively participate in selecting companies and supporting the portfolio. Founders can submit their companies through an online application form, which requests the initial assessment data the firm requires.

The firm targets early seed-stage SaaS companies that leverage artificial intelligence to solve enterprise challenges. Sentiero expects portfolio companies to deliver one of six core AI modalities: process automation, cognitive insights, cognitive engagement, data collection, AI tools, or generative AI. Companies must sell to businesses, not consumers.

Sentiero invests at the early seed stage. Companies must have a full product ready and at least one commercial pilot completed. While the firm considers startups across the US and Canada, it has a stated preference for Texas-based companies per its published strategy.

Sentiero is structured as a venture firm where the partners are former entrepreneurs who have started, scaled, and exited businesses. The firm supplements its partners with venture partners and an extended advisory network spanning more than 30 industries. Publicly disclosed details on specific named principals and the exact ownership structure are limited.

Sentiero invests across more than 27 industries, with the deepest experience in business services and consulting, marketing and advertising, software, healthcare IT, real estate, retailing and distribution, internet and web services, sports, media and entertainment, sales management and CRM, financial services and fintech, and travel. At least one partner or advisor has operating or investing experience in each sector the firm targets.
