Managing Partner Manabu Nakamura leads investment decisions. He built his career at Japan Long-Term Credit Bank, NED venture capital, and Shinsei Corporate Investment, where he spent over a decade before spinning out. Partner Ryo Fujinami, a former Abbott Japan diagnostics R&D scientist, provides in-house scientific underwriting capacity.

The firm's sole fund, New Life Science I Investment Limited Partnership, has Shinsei Capital Partners as its general partner. SBI Shinsei Bank executive Takahisa Komoda serves as a director of the GP, linking the fund to the bank's broader private equity and corporate-investment activity. The bank is not listed as a limited partner in public disclosures.

All disclosed activity is domestic. The firm's stated mission is to fund Japanese academic research and help translate it into medicines serving patient needs. No non-Japanese portfolio companies or overseas offices appear in any public source.

The fund covers company creation, seed, early-stage, middle-stage, and later-stage biotech investments — the full continuum. This is unusual for a first-time fund, which typically concentrates on one or two stages. The team's blend of venture, pre-IPO, and R&D experience underpins the broad mandate.

The LP base is not publicly disclosed. The GP governance structure — with a legal auditor and the SBI Shinsei Bank and HIBIKI Partners relationships — suggests a mix of institutional and operating-partner capital, but amounts and names have not been published.
