Supernode Ventures

Investment decisions for Fund I were made by founding partner Laurel Touby alongside former partner Jenny Friedman, who departed to co-found Four Acres Capital. Touby, a former founder and CEO of mediabistro.com, remains the firm's sole publicly listed managing partner. No additional investment committee members have been disclosed.

Touby leverages a decades-deep network built from her time as a business journalist, her experience founding and operating mediabistro.com, and her ongoing Tech Media Dinner & Discussion series in New York. That event series convenes media and technology operators, functioning as a recurring sourcing channel that surfaces pre-seed and seed-stage companies before they reach broader institutional visibility.

Supernode Ventures invests directly into companies, primarily via equity rounds at the pre-seed and seed stages. There is no public record of the firm making commitments into other venture funds. The strategy has been exclusively direct investing since Fund I launched in 2017.

Fund I targeted pre-seed and seed rounds, with selected follow-on participation into Series A and later rounds for portfolio companies such as Electric AI, Habi, and Covalto. The firm does not advertise a growth-stage or buyout strategy, and its disclosed positions are concentrated in the earliest institutional rounds.

Flatiron Investors was Laurel Touby's personal angel-investing vehicle prior to the 2017 launch of Supernode Ventures. That legacy portfolio includes early checks into Braze, Covalto, Electric AI, and Click Therapeutics, among others. The Flatiron Investors track record forms the performance history that seeded Supernode's institutional fundraise but operates as a separate, personal entity.
