Sygnature Discovery was founded in 2004 in Nottingham, UK, by a team that included current CEO Simon Hirst. The firm operates as an integrated drug discovery contract research organization (CRO), providing medicinal chemistry, bioscience, computational chemistry, and DMPK services to pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients. Its original wealth origin is not publicly disclosed, but its growth has been fueled by institutional private equity backing. The company executes a full-suite outsourced research model spanning target validation through preclinical candidate selection. Its scientists work on small-molecule drug discovery programs across oncology, neuroscience, inflammation, and metabolic disease. In September 2024, Sygnature acquired NuChem Sciences, a Montreal-based CRO, adding 300 scientists and expanding its North American chemistry capacity (per the firm, September 2024).
