Pramod John serves as Managing Partner and leads investment decisions at Treo Ventures. He founded the firm in 2016 after an operating career that included building HealthNow, a pharmacy benefit manager. The partnership is compact, with investment authority concentrated in John's team rather than a broad committee structure.

Treo's sourcing model leans heavily on clinical-advisor networks and hospital-system relationships rather than banker-led auctions. John's background as a health-plan operator gives the firm access to practicing clinicians and administrators who surface companies solving real operational pain points in value-based care. This network is difficult for generalist venture firms to replicate.

Treo primarily executes direct equity investments in seed and Series A-stage companies. There is no public record of the firm making fund-of-funds commitments or acting as a limited partner in other venture funds. Its capital deployment model is direct, concentrated, and often includes follow-on participation in portfolio companies.

Treo targets seed and Series A stages, with a willingness to participate in follow-on rounds for existing portfolio holdings through growth stages. The firm enters at the point where clinical validation intersects with initial commercial traction, preferring companies that have a live deployment in a care setting rather than preclinical concepts.

Treo does not invest outside healthcare. Within healthcare, the firm avoids biotechnology, medical devices, and pharmaceutical plays — areas requiring regulatory pathways that diverge from the software-plus-clinical-services model at the core of its thesis. It is not a life-sciences investor.
