Helmut Schühsler chairs the firm and serves as CEO, with investment committee authority over all commitments. He co-founded the original TVM Capital Life Science franchise in Munich before establishing the standalone Dubai operation in 2012. The firm maintains a flat partnership structure with sector leads and operating partners feeding into a centralized investment committee.

The firm has operated both fund structures and deal-by-deal co-investment vehicles. Following its last traditional fund close in the mid-2010s, it shifted to a managed-account and syndicated co-investment model, with the European Investment Bank facility announced in December 2023 representing a new dedicated vehicle.

The firm targets expansion and growth equity, with selective exposure to late-stage venture, public-to-private transactions, and pre-IPO rounds. It generally avoids seed-stage clinical risk, preferring companies with commercial revenue and proven reimbursement pathways in their target markets.

TVM Capital Healthcare was carved out from the Munich-based TVM Capital Life Science franchise in 2012 as a distinct legal entity and management team. While Helmut Schühsler was involved in both, the Dubai firm operates with a separate investment mandate, limited partner base, and regulatory domicile focused on healthcare delivery and regional expansion rather than early-stage biotech drug development.

The traditional focus has been the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, with a secondary mandate in Southeast Asia. In December 2023, a new European Investment Bank-backed facility expanded the firm's geographic scope to include the Southern Mediterranean and Sub-Saharan Africa, marking a deliberate pivot to broader emerging-market healthcare investing.
