Valio Pension

Valio Pension is the captive statutory pension fund created to manage TyEL employment pension obligations exclusively for employees of Valio Oy, the Finnish dairy cooperative. A sister entity, Valion Keskinäinen Vakuutusyhtiö, separately handles the cooperative's statutory accident insurance. This structure makes the pension fund a direct financial subsidiary of the cooperative ecosystem rather than an independent commercial pension provider.

It operates strictly as a single-employer pension fund, managing assets exclusively to cover the pension liabilities of Valio Oy's workforce. It is not a multi-employer pension insurance company open to other Finnish corporations. This captive structure means the fund's liquidity needs and risk tolerance are entirely driven by the demographic profile of one corporate group.
