The three co-founders — Arie Bellegrun, Arjun Goyal, and Stefan Vitorovic — form the Investment Committee and make binding decisions. Belllegrun brings the Kite Pharma exit-and-scale playbook; Goyal is a physician who previously invested at 5AM Ventures; Vitorovic was a partner at MPM Capital with an oncology focus. No external LPs sit on the committee.

Vida is a venture-capital firm that manages commingled, third-party LP capital raised across three flagship funds. It is not a family office. LP commitments come from institutional allocators including university endowments, foundations, pension funds, and sovereign wealth funds (per the firm's fund-close announcements).

Vida invests from seed and Series A through follow-on rounds into clinical-stage inflection points. The firm company-creates very early, often pre-clinical or at IND stage, and maintains reserves for crossover and later syndicated rounds when a portfolio company reaches Phase II/III data catalysts.

Oncology is the firm's heaviest allocation, particularly cell therapy, gene editing, and precision oncology. Autoimmune and rare genetic diseases form the second concentration. Vida has publicly backed companies targeting KRAS-driven cancers, head-and-neck carcinomas, and relapsed/refractory hematologic malignancies.

Deal flow originates inside Boston's academic-medical centers — the Broad Institute, Harvard, MIT, Mass General, and Dana-Farber. Belllegrun's track record as a physician-serial entrepreneur and the firm's network of operating executives surface bench-stage/PhI assets before competitive auction processes begin. The firm often licenses IP directly from these institutions.

Arie Belllegrun co-founded Allogene Therapeutics and serves as its Executive Chairman. Allogene is a clinical-stage allogeneic CAR T company in which Vida's first fund was a co-founding investor. The firms share an oncology focus, but Vida invests across third-party discovery platforms while Allogene develops its own proprietary pipeline.

Vida deploys almost exclusively through direct equity positions in portfolio companies, typically as a lead or co-lead. The firm is not a fund-of-funds and does not allocate to other venture funds as a core strategy, though it does co-invest alongside peer biotech VCs on a deal-by-deal basis.
