Wheelhouse Entertainment was founded in 2019 by Brent Montgomery, the creator of the hit series 'Pawn Stars' through his prior company Leftfield Pictures. Montgomery sold Leftfield to ITV in 2014 and has since built Wheelhouse as a next-generation media platform that incubates and acquires content businesses rather than simply producing shows. The firm spans unscripted television, scripted series, digital media, branded content, and live events. Through Spoke Studios, it produces for networks including Netflix, History, and A&E; Butternut targets food and lifestyle digital content; and the B/R Football joint venture with Warner Bros. Discovery combines sports media with documentary production (per Variety, 2021). Wheelhouse also operates a branded content arm and a live events division called Wheelhouse Live. Geographic presence covers North America, with additional offices in Stamford, Dallas, New York, and a Hong Kong outpost mapped to its portfolio. Wheelhouse maintains strategic partnerships with entities including Eldridge Industries, with which it co-founded the SPAC Wheelhouse SPAC I in 2021 (per SEC filings). That SPAC later merged with Genius Sports in a deal valued at over $1.5B, though Wheelhouse's ongoing involvement remains limited. Total team size and AUM are not publicly disclosed. The private equity firm Eldridge, led by Todd Boehly, has been a key capital partner since inception. Structurally, Wheelhouse operates as a hybrid: part operating company with owned studios and talent, part investment vehicle that takes equity stakes in production companies and media properties. Its model mirrors a studio-within-a-studio approach rather than a traditional media holding company. Succession and governance are founder-controlled by Montgomery, with no publicly known succession plan.
