YMCA Retirement Fund

The YMCA Retirement Fund was established in 1922 to serve YMCA employees nationwide. Michael B. Cefole serves as President and Chief Executive Officer while Hunter S. Reisner acts as Chief Investment Officer. William D. Rueckert chairs the board and Patricia Haverland serves as vice chair. The fund maintains a single mandate focused on retirement security for its participants. The portfolio spans public equity, fixed income, real assets and alternatives. Confirmed commitments include Oaktree European Principal Fund V, Blackstone Real Estate Partners, Carlyle Partners, Charlesbank VII, CVC European Equity, Horsley Bridge IX, Oaktree Mezzanine and OCM Opportunities VII/VIIB. Geographic exposure covers the United States and Europe. The fund participates as a limited partner in both private equity and real estate vehicles. The organization employs 100 professionals and maintains its headquarters at 1177 Avenue of the Americas in New York. It holds membership in the ERISA Advisory Council. In September 2024 the fund presented at the YMCA Mid-Major CVO/CEO Conference in Baton Rouge. Additional activity includes attendance at the SEO Alternative Investments Conference in March 2024 and the PERE America Forum in October 2025. The fund integrates ESG factors into its risk framework and long-term strategy. Governance centers on a board of trustees drawn from YMCA leadership and external pension experience. Service providers include JPMorgan Investor Services for custody and Shearman & Sterling for legal counsel.
