Ryan Zanin, the founder and Chief Investment Officer, leads all investment decisions. His prior roles include Chief Risk Officer at Fannie Mae and senior risk positions at GE Capital and WestLB. His underwriting approach is heavily influenced by institutional credit analysis and structured finance experience.

Alpha Rock sources deals through a network cultivated during Zanin's decades in institutional finance — including relationships with regional banks, special servicers, mortgage originators, and restructuring advisors. The firm targets off-market transactions where institutional complexity or regulatory pressure forces sellers to accept discounted pricing, such as non-performing loan portfolio sales and distressed note auctions.

Alpha Rock is known to co-invest alongside trusted partners on a deal-by-deal basis, rather than through formalized club structures or blind pools. This mirrors the practice of many single-family offices that syndicate larger transactions among a network of peers. The firm does not publicly identify its recurring co-investors.
