CC Industries

CC Industries was established in 1986 to manage the Crown family's operating companies and investments. Henry Crown built the original fortune through Material Service Corporation, a Chicago building-materials firm. Lester Crown and Bill Crown continue to direct the office's activities from Chicago. The firm deploys capital through direct co-investments, private equity, real estate, infrastructure and sports franchises. Confirmed positions include minority stakes in the Chicago Bulls and New York Yankees, joint-venture interests in Rockefeller Center, and ownership of Aspen Skiing Company and Alterra Mountain Company. Geographic reach covers North America, Europe and Asia. Asset classes span industrial holdings, transportation assets, PropTech and ClimateTech. No public headcount or AUM figure exists. Additional vehicles include Crown Family Philanthropies and the Susan Crown Exchange. James Crown served as a trustee of the Aspen Institute until his death in 2023. The family maintains memberships in the Commercial Club of Chicago and the Economic Club of Chicago. CC Industries functions as both an operating-company holder and an investment office. This hybrid structure allows direct control over portfolio assets such as 222 North LaSalle Street and The Little Nell while executing co-investments alongside external partners in targeted sectors.
