William H. Hines manages the office and directs investment decisions. His tenure spans multiple decades, and he operates as the primary steward for the Dumaine family's financial assets. The decision-making structure is concentrated, with all allocations running through the New Orleans office.

F. Delano Dumaine served as treasurer and later chairman of the Amoskeag Manufacturing Company in Manchester, New Hampshire, which at its peak was the largest cotton textile producer in the world. The wealth generated from Amoskeag was subsequently deployed into railroads and other industrial holdings by his son, Frederic C. Dumaine Sr., creating a durable financial base that the family office still manages today.

Dumaine Investments operates strictly as a single family office. The firm does not solicit or manage third-party capital and has never converted into a multi-family office or registered investment advisor serving outside clients. All assets under management represent Dumaine family wealth.

The office runs a conservative, multi-asset-class strategy oriented toward capital preservation. The portfolio divides between public equities — with a preference for blue-chip, dividend-paying stocks — a ladder of municipal and corporate bonds, and a significant allocation to real assets. Those real assets include Louisiana and Mississippi farmland, timberland, and legacy commercial properties in downtown New Orleans.

Its real asset portfolio is concentrated in Louisiana and Mississippi, with farmland and timber holdings representing multigenerational property. Public market investments are national in scope, but the family's operational and physical footprint remains anchored in the Gulf South.

The Dumaine Foundation serves as the family's philanthropic vehicle, separately structured from Dumaine Investments. The foundation focuses on education and cultural organizations in the Gulf South region. Investment assets and charitable assets are walled off, with the investment office managing exclusively the family's private capital.
