Dundee Partners was founded in 2012 by Stephen M. Hendel after his career in energy trading. Sam Hendel serves as managing partner and has expanded the firm’s reach into cultural and technology assets. Ruth Hendel participates as co-founder with a focus on Broadway production. The firm allocates across music rights, intellectual property, private equity and direct co-investments. Chord Music Partners, its joint venture with Universal Music Group, holds global music catalogs. Searchlight Capital Partners committed $400 million to the vehicle in 2025 after KKR exited its position in 2024. Deployments span North America and Europe with exposure to pre-seed and seed stages in AI/ML and data analytics. The team maintains offices and residences in Westport and Larchmont. Additional holdings include Pappy and Harriet’s Pioneertown Palace and Fela Kuti cultural assets. Sam Hendel co-founded Accelerate Yale and StartUp Westport while serving on the Yale Schwarzman Center Advisory Board. The Hendel Family Foundation and Ruth & Stephen Hendel Foundation handle separate philanthropic activity. Ownership remains within the Hendel family with investment decisions concentrated at the managing-partner level. This structure allows rapid commitment to special-situations and royalty transactions without external limited-partner reporting cycles.
