Flagship Founders

The firm targets formation and seed stages exclusively, because every venture is built inside the studio. Flagship Founders does not invest in Series A or later-stage companies from outside its own creation process. The 'stage' is therefore always pre-product or early-product, moving from ideation and prototyping to market entry with the operational backing of the studio and its maritime partners.

Flagship Founders' industry-partner network includes some of the largest ship managers and owners globally, such as Columbia Group, Peter Döhle Schiffahrts-KG, and Auerbach Schifffahrt. These partners are not passive limited partners; they define the problems the ventures solve, co-validate products, and frequently become first customers or design partners, creating a feedback loop that embeds the ventures inside the industry's operational fabric.

Most maritime VC firms, such as Motion Ventures or Ocean Zero, deploy capital into existing startups. Flagship Founders is instead a full-stack venture builder: it employs product, engineering, HR, and marketing talent in-house, and it co-founds the companies alongside external entrepreneurs. This blurs the line between an asset manager and an operating company, making it structurally closer to a startup studio than to a fund manager.
