Flexware is a systems integrator that connects industrial automation equipment on the factory floor to enterprise software systems. Its engineers program programmable logic controllers, build human-machine interfaces, design manufacturing execution systems, and create data pipelines that feed production metrics into ERP platforms. The firm also offers custom software development for industrial environments, including data warehousing and analytics.

Scott Whitlock founded Flexware Innovation in 1996 and serves as President and CEO. He is a recognized voice in manufacturing IT, having published on digital transformation topics and frequently spoken at industry conferences. In 2019, private equity firm Mason Wells acquired a majority stake, with Whitlock remaining in the leadership role to guide the firm's expansion.

Flexware's core practice areas cover life sciences — including pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturing where validated, FDA-compliant systems are required — as well as automotive, food and beverage, and consumer packaged goods. It generates revenue through engineering and software services sold to manufacturing enterprises. Since 2019, a majority stake has been held by Mason Wells, a Milwaukee-based private equity firm.

Flexware does not manufacture products. It provides integration, development, and consulting services. The firm's deliverables are custom-configured control systems, custom-built data integration software, and validated system documentation — all tailored to each client's specific plant-floor environment and enterprise IT stack.
