Forbion operates five distinct strategies under one platform. Forbion Ventures targets pre-clinical and early clinical biotech companies; Forbion Growth provides private growth capital and crossover financing for clinical-stage drug developers; a joint venture with BioGeneration Ventures handles company formation and pre-seed activity; and Forbion BioEconomy runs a dedicated €200m fund for biotechnology applications in food, agriculture, materials and environmental technologies. The growth strategy also executes public-block trades, PIPEs and VPEs.

The collaboration covers pre-creation, pre-seed and company formation stages, sitting alongside Forbion's own Ventures and Growth funds. Yes. The BioEconomy strategy targets companies that apply biotechnology to planetary-health challenges, organized across four sectors: food, agriculture, materials and environmental technologies. Portfolio-company Genomines, for example, uses plant-based methods to extract metals. This fund operates separately from the human-health venture and growth vehicles.

Forbion covers the full company lifecycle. The BGV joint venture addresses pre-creation and pre-seed. Ventures funds back seed and early clinical rounds. Growth funds provide private capital for clinical-stage development and selectively write crossover and public-equity checks, including PIPE and block trades. BioEconomy funds participate from Series A onward.

Forbion invests in Europe and the United States, supported by offices in Naarden (Netherlands), Munich (Germany) and Boston (Massachusetts). The transatlantic presence enables local access to both European and US biotech clusters.

The firm reports €5bn deployed across 11 funds. Recent vehicles include Forbion Growth Opportunities Fund III at €1.2bn, Forbion Ventures VII at €890m, and the inaugural Forbion BioEconomy I at €200m. Forbion does not publish an aggregate AUM figure for all active funds.
