Formica Capital was established in 2018 by the Olsson Eriksson family after the partial monetization of their stake in Stena Sessan. Madeleine Olsson Eriksson, daughter of Stena founder Sten Allan Olsson, serves as owner and board member alongside her children Gustav Eriksson and Marie Eriksson. The family remains part-owners of Stena Group, one of Sweden's largest family-controlled industrial groups. The firm executes direct co-investments and SPVs in profitable Nordic companies. Asset classes include private equity, growth equity, and selected real-asset holdings. Portfolio companies comprise Knowit, a digitalization consultancy with 4,000 employees across six countries; CR Group, a cybersecurity platform that acquired Fox Crypto in August 2024; Rototec, Europe's largest geoenergy solutions provider; ChargeNode, the largest EV charging operator in the Nordics; and Competence Development Group, a Swedish higher vocational education provider. Investments concentrate in Sweden and the broader Nordic region with secondary exposure to other European markets. Formica employs a professional team led by CEO Olof Cato, COO Teresa Enander, CIO Johan Christiernin, and CFO Carolina Winroth-Lundin. The firm maintains no disclosed additional offices. In August 2024 CR Group completed the acquisition of Fox Crypto, expanding its secure communications footprint. Formica also holds board seats in affiliated vehicles such as Kalvringen AB and Venturi Fastigheter AB through family principal Gustav Eriksson. Formica's ownership model combines the long-term horizon of a family investor with the operational discipline of a dedicated investment organization. This structure permits tailored holding periods and direct governance involvement without external fund timelines or LP reporting obligations.
