Growmark

Growmark is a federated agricultural cooperative owned by local member cooperatives, not private shareholders. It allocates capital to physical infrastructure and operating assets that support its supply chain, grain handling, and energy distribution businesses. Returns are distributed to member cooperatives through patronage refunds based on volume transacted.

Growmark concentrates on real assets tied to agricultural infrastructure — fuel terminals, propane storage, grain elevators, and agronomy facilities. It also maintains an energy division that includes proprietary fuel distribution and lubricants manufacturing. Its technology investments focus on precision agriculture tools deployed through the FS system.

Growmark is an operating cooperative, not a family office. It functions as a supply chain and marketing intermediary for approximately 50 independent member cooperatives, which in turn serve hundreds of thousands of producer-members. Its capital allocation is driven by operational needs rather than a third-party LP mandate.

Growmark's core infrastructure sits in the U.S. Midwest — Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin, and surrounding states — with additional supply-chain reach into Ontario, Canada. Its corporate footprint also includes offices in California and Colorado that support specialty crop, lubricants, and energy markets.

Growmark generally does not operate as a co-investor alongside traditional GPs. Its primary investment vehicle is itself — deploying retained earnings into infrastructure and joint ventures that serve the cooperative system. External partnerships tend to be operating joint ventures, such as the CF Industries nitrogen facility arrangement.
