Immutable Ventures is not a closed-end fund with external limited partners. It deploys capital directly from the Immutable group's corporate treasury, reporting to the company's leadership rather than to a GP structure. This permanent-capital model removes fund-cycle pressure and allows investment decisions to be driven entirely by strategic ecosystem alignment — specifically, driving adoption of Immutable X and Immutable zkEVM — rather than pure financial return targets. The firm can hold positions indefinitely and overlap capital allocation with technical integration support that a traditional VC cannot offer.

Immutable Ventures is a fully integrated function of the Immutable group, the company that built Immutable X and Immutable zkEVM. Its capital originates from the same corporate treasury that funds protocol development, and its portfolio strategy is designed to populate the Immutable ecosystem with high-quality games, marketplaces, and developer tools. Portfolio companies gain preferential access to Immutable's Layer-2 scaling infrastructure, and in return their growth drives transaction volume and network effects back to the protocol. The venture arm does not invest in projects that compete with the core infrastructure.

Investment decisions are made by the Immutable group's leadership, including co-founders James Ferguson (CEO), Robbie Ferguson (President), and Alex Connolly (CTO). The firm does not operate a separate investment committee independent of the parent company, reflecting the tight strategic alignment between the venture function and the operating business. Deal sourcing often originates through the group's business development and developer relations teams, who maintain direct relationships with studios building on Immutable's infrastructure.

Immutable Ventures targets both early-stage and growth-stage companies, writing checks that range from pre-seed rounds for nascent Web3 gaming studios to later-stage rounds for proven teams migrating their ecosystems onto Immutable's infrastructure. The firm also makes token investments alongside equity positions where applicable. Because it operates on permanent capital with no fund-vintage constraints, it can deploy opportunistically across stages without strict allocation bands.

Immutable Ventures regularly co-invests alongside external venture funds and strategic partners, particularly those with expertise in gaming and Web3. The firm has historical relationships with institutional backers such as Temasek, Tencent, Bitkraft Ventures, and Animoca Brands, and often participates in rounds led by these firms when the target company commits to building on Immutable's infrastructure. Co-investment terms are negotiated on a deal-by-deal basis rather than through a standardized side-letter structure.

Immutable Ventures does not invest in projects that compete directly with Immutable's core Layer-2 infrastructure, other general-purpose Layer-1 or Layer-2 blockchains, or NFT marketplaces that position themselves as alternatives to the Immutable Marketplace. The firm also avoids sectors unrelated to its Web3 gaming mandate — it does not deploy capital into traditional enterprise SaaS, biotech, climate tech, or non-blockchain fintech irrespective of financial return potential.

The capital comes from the Immutable group's corporate treasury, which was funded by over $300 million in equity raised across multiple rounds from investors including Temasek, Tencent, Bitkraft Ventures, King River Capital, and Prosus Ventures, alongside revenue generated by the protocol's fee structures. The Ferguson brothers, who co-founded Immutable in 2018, remain significant shareholders in the parent company. There is no external family-office wealth source unrelated to the operating business.
