Stanley Tan established Rumah Group after building Sedar Properties into a certified B Corp with holdings that include Braddell House in Singapore and multiple New Zealand assets such as Pakuranga Plaza and the Citylife hotel chain. The office operates from Singapore and channels multigenerational capital into three parallel streams: Rumah Property for commercial, retail and residential projects across Singapore, Australia and New Zealand; Rumah Investments for early-stage companies; and Rumah Foundation for humanitarian and marine programmes. Rumah Investments has backed Circulate Capital, Big Idea Ventures, JUST Asia, Karana, MYCL, Criaterra, BillionBricks, Undivided Ventures, Seaforestation.co, RiverRecycle and Coast 4C. These positions sit alongside direct real estate ownership in Auckland, Queenstown and Singapore. The geographic footprint covers Singapore as headquarters plus Australia and New Zealand for property and Southeast Asia for ocean and climate grants. Deployment occurs through direct holdings, co-investments and select fund commitments rather than broad fund-of-funds mandates. The operating team includes Stanley Tan as Principal, daughter Kathlyn Tan as Principal and Director of the Foundation, and her husband Thomas Riber Knudsen as Principal overseeing investments. Additional staff cover finance, property management and science advisory roles. Stanley Tan maintains membership in YPO Singapore and previously chaired the Asia Philanthropy Circle. No headcount figure has been disclosed. The family office structure separates investment activities from philanthropic vehicles while keeping both under direct principal oversight. This arrangement allows the same decision makers to align property decarbonisation targets with foundation grants for marine ecosystems and community development without external LP reporting requirements.
