Juan Rius established Alcalá Inversiones in 2007. LarrainVial, founded in 1934 by the Larraín brothers, purchased the entire firm in 2019 and positioned it as the multi-family office arm of the group. The firm allocates across private equity, real estate, private credit, secondaries and fund-of-funds vehicles. It also executes growth-stage commitments in FinTech and EdTech. Geographic reach covers South America, North America and Europe. Confirmed holdings include real-estate assets in Seville and Alcalá de Henares, Spain. Co-investments and direct mandates supplement the fund commitments. AUM stands at $1.8B. The Santiago headquarters employs professionals drawn from LarrainVial. Additional Spanish holding companies manage real-estate positions. In June 2024 Gonzalo Silva was named CEO after twenty years at the parent firm. Former CEO René Sepúlveda left to launch Valora, which received CMF approval in February 2025. LarrainVial ownership supplies the principal structural distinction. The arrangement gives Alcalá direct access to the parent’s brokerage, asset-management and cross-border subsidiaries in Peru, Colombia and the United States while preserving separate multi-family-office governance.
