Fledge Capital

Fledge Capital's co-founders, Louis van der Watt and Konrad Fleischhauer, also co-founded Atterbury Property Investment, a South African mixed-use real estate developer. Atterbury remains a core holding within Fledge's portfolio. The two entities share founders and a property heritage but operate as distinct structures, with Fledge serving as the broader investment platform.

Fledge Capital deploys a permanent balance sheet rather than managing outside limited partner capital. The firm does not market itself as a fund manager and has not disclosed any external fundraising. Strategic co-investors include African Rainbow Capital and individual business partners such as Lood Bester and Albé Geldenhuys.

Fledge targets private companies with proven business models that meet its investment criteria, spanning buyouts, growth equity, expansion capital, management buyouts, and restructuring. The portfolio is generalist but publicly disclosed concentrations include auto dealerships via Westvaal Motor Group and real estate through Atterbury Property.

Fledge's philanthropic activity flows through the Atterbury Trust, a foundation connected to the co-founders' property interests. The trust operates separately from the investment company's balance sheet.

African Rainbow Capital, the investment vehicle of South African mining magnate Patrice Motsepe, has served as both a historical and current strategic co-investor alongside Fledge Capital. The two firms have partnered on at least one disclosed transaction structure.
