Genera Capital began in 2016 when Raymond Goss left his role as Head of Wealth Management at Investec to establish the firm. Goss, together with Dr. Adrian Saville and Tristin Retzlaff, formed the core team. Their backgrounds in wealth management, asset management and consulting supplied the initial client relationships. The firm constructs portfolios that combine listed property holdings in South Africa and global markets, cryptocurrency positions, physical gold and a special opportunities sleeve focused on South Africa. Deployment occurs through direct holdings and co-investments rather than external fund commitments. Tristin Retzlaff, based in London, contributes to cross-border allocation decisions while the Johannesburg team handles local execution. No public headcount or AUM figure exists. The firm maintains one office in Sandton and participates in the Fiduciary Institute of Southern Africa and academic programs at the Gordon Institute of Business Science. Governance rests with the three named partners and a small group of co-investors who sit on the board of an affiliated vehicle, MeTTa Capital.
