Founder Zhou Yahui is the central decision-maker. He controls the investment vehicle through his majority stake in the listed parent company, Kunlun Wanwei. The investment arm operates with its own mandate but is funded by the listed entity's balance sheet and Zhou Yahui's personal capital. Unlike a traditional segregated family office, the boundaries are porous. The parent company's board has overseen investments — like the Opera acquisition and Bitcoin purchases — that function as both corporate strategy and venture-style capital deployment.

It operates as a hybrid. It deploys capital with the permanence of a family office, because Zhou controls both the listed company and the vehicle, but it uses the public company's balance sheet rather than a strictly separated pool of private wealth. The firm does not market itself as a fund and has never disclosed external limited partners.

The firm is one of the few publicly known corporate Bitcoin holders in Asia. As disclosed in Shenzhen Stock Exchange filings, the parent company held roughly $250M in Bitcoin on its balance sheet by 2023. The treasury is held at the corporate level, blurring the line between operating cash management and a directional venture bet on digital assets.

The firm almost exclusively executes direct deals and strategic acquisitions. The most prominent example is the 2016 consortium acquisition of Opera Software with Qihoo 360, which gave it direct operational control of a global browser and fintech platform. There is no public record of the firm acting as a limited partner in third-party venture funds.

The wealth originates from Kunlun Wanwei, a mobile and browser gaming company that Zhou Yahui founded in 2008. The company went public on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange in 2015, establishing the liquidity base for the investment vehicle. The company distributes games including Clash of Kings and Game of Thrones: Winter is Coming across global markets.

The mandate is inherently global, driven by the user base of its controlling assets. Through Opera, the firm has exposure to hundreds of millions of users across Africa, South Asia, and Europe. Its AI development and venture bets are centered in Beijing, but the firm has actively pursued cross-border acquisitions, particularly in Scandinavia and emerging markets where Opera's fintech products like OPay operate.
