Ming Chen, the founder and CEO, is the primary decision-maker. Chen's background is in enterprise software — he founded and exited Monte Carlo Systems, a mainframe performance management company — and he evaluates investments through a technical founder's lens rather than a traditional allocator's framework. The office maintains a lean team that supports diligence and portfolio operations, but Chen retains final authority on all commitments.

MC2 sources primarily through established relationships with Bay Area seed-stage venture funds such as Pear VC and Heavybit, participating in syndicated rounds and occasionally leading or co-leading small pre-seed checks. Chen's network of fellow technical founders and operators in the developer-tools and infrastructure software communities provides a secondary origination channel. The office does not accept unsolicited pitch decks, relying instead on warm introductions from trusted venture partners and portfolio founders.

The office actively co-invests alongside established Bay Area seed and early-stage funds, viewing this as its primary deployment mechanism. MC2 does not compete for lead allocations in institutional rounds but instead earns access by providing fast, technically-informed diligence and serving as a reference investor for LP syndicates. The office has co-invested with Heavybit, Pear VC, and other developer-tool-focused funds.
