ORIX Asset Management

ORIX Asset Management is the fund management affiliate of ORIX Corporation, a diversified financial group listed on the Tokyo and New York stock exchanges. The parent originated as an equipment-leasing company in 1964 and now operates across leasing, lending, investment banking, asset management, and real estate. This structure means ORIX Asset Management can co-invest alongside its parent's balance sheet and draw on its deal-origination networks.

The firm manages capital across private credit, real estate, infrastructure, and private equity. Its US direct-lending platform focuses on middle-market sponsor-backed transactions, while the real estate group acquires and develops commercial and multifamily properties. In infrastructure, the firm has been an active acquirer of renewable-energy operating assets, including solar and wind projects.

It does both. As of early 2024, the combined alternatives portfolio stood at roughly $30 billion on a fair-value basis, with a portion representing third-party fund commitments and the remainder representing co-investment from ORIX Corporation's balance sheet. In December 2023, it closed ORIX Credit Partners III, a commingled direct-lending fund, at $1.2 billion.

Ultimate strategic and investment oversight sits with Makoto Inoue, President and CEO of ORIX Corporation. Individual fund strategies — including direct lending, real estate, and infrastructure — are managed by dedicated teams under the ORIX USA and ORIX Europe banners. The group operates through multiple SEC-registered investment advisers.

The primary deployment regions are North America, Japan, Europe, and to a lesser extent Southeast Asia. The New York office houses the US direct-lending and private equity operations; Tokyo drives Asian real estate and infrastructure; London and Singapore serve European and Southeast Asian deal origination.
