Founder and CEO Wil VanLoh sets the firm's strategic direction and remains deeply involved in investment committee decisions across all three platforms — private equity, infrastructure, and credit. Each platform maintains a separate committee led by senior partners with dedicated sector mandates, a structure VanLoh refined to prevent capital-allocation conflicts between conventional-energy and energy-transition strategies.

Quantum sources through a multi-decade network of energy executives, basin operators, and project developers, many of whom previously served as portfolio-company CEOs for the firm. The group also originates transactions via its structured-capital platform, which provides rescue financing and preferred equity to middle-market energy companies outside the traditional adviser-led auction process.

Quantum's primary strategy is direct and co-investment deployment through its commingled funds. The firm is not known as a meaningful fund-of-funds investor. When the credit platform provides financing, it structures the transaction as a direct loan or preferred equity instrument rather than taking a limited-partner stake in an external GP.

Quantum Energy Partners was the legacy private-equity brand under which the firm raised its upstream oil and gas funds. In late 2023 the parent organization unified its private equity, infrastructure, and credit strategies under the Quantum Capital Group name, retiring the Quantum Energy Partners label for new vehicles while continuing to manage legacy LP commitments under that banner.
